NACHGEFRAGT at ZB MED: Publishing without worries with PUBLISSO
Where should you publish in order to be found by others? What do you have to watch out for in OA publishing and what are the dangers of researchers being tracked by major publishers? Elke Roesner talks about these and other questions with Prof. Dr. Ursula Arning, Head of Open Science at ZB MED and responsible for PUBLISSO, ZB MED's Open Access publishing portal.
The portal is aimed at researchers who want to publish their work and research data freely accessible and thus offers an alternative to large publishers - at a fair price and without data tracking. In addition, PUBLISSO offers an all-round carefree package for publishers, from a simple publication system based on the Drupal content management system to accompanying services such as the allocation of DOIs, the possibility of versioning, advice on Creative Commons licences or a review process within the system. In addition, PUBLISSO enables single source publishing, text and data mining, cross-media publications as well as the publication of research data in the life sciences repository - all from a single source.
The video also dispels the prejudice that OA publications are not findable or get lost. It explains which standards apply to OA publication platforms, how to recognise dubious publishers and how to protect oneself. Last but not least, the video also talks about why OA publishing platforms are in good hands with academic libraries and how libraries support researchers with their expertise in publishing.
NACHGEFRAGT – the ZB MED video podcast on YouTube – presents topics, projects and the people behind them at regular intervals. The videos are in German with English subtitles.
