Promoting openness - supporting research: Infrastructures for Open Science
ZB MED is a driver for Open Science, in its research activities as well as in its infrastructural services. Open Science refers to the complete opening of the research cycle, from the initial idea for a research project, through the generation and analysis of data, to the publication of research results and their subsequent use. The goals of Open Science include the creation of transparency and reproducibility. ZB MED offers comprehensive services to support and further develop research processes along the entire research cycle.
A central component of ZB MED's Open Science activities is the PUBLISSO portal: PUBLISSO's OA publishing platforms and quality assurance services and advice support researchers in publishing and making available texts and research data in Open Access. The PUBLISSO software is also available to all institutions as an open source solution for subsequent use.
The services related to research data management aim to accompany the life cycle of research data in order to finally publish them in accordance with the FAIR criteria and make them reusable. The services include technical infrastructures for data management planning and publication of research data as well as consulting and training. In addition, ZB MED is substantially involved in the development of the National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI) to establish efficient and sustainable research data management.
Digital long-term archiving at ZB MED ensures the permanent availability of published research results on its own platforms as well as its own holdings.
