New filter options in the ELN Finder

Subdisciplines of chemistry as a criterion for selecting an electronic lab notebook

At the suggestion of the National Research Data Infrastructure for Chemistry (NFDI4Chem), the ELN Finder has been given extended criteria for the search for a suitable Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN). In the NFDI4Chem Knowledgebase, the aim was to display suitable ELNs for subdisciplines. The ELN Finder now makes it possible to filter not only by scientific disciplines such as chemistry, biology, genetics, etc., but also by subject. In chemistry, it is also possible to search for the following subdisciplines:

  • Analytical chemistry
  • Biochemistry
  • Organic chemistry
  • Physical chemistry
  • Polymer chemistry
  • Synthetic chemistry
  • Theoretical chemistry

The NFDI4Chem team at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz provided the assignment of the ELNs to the subdisciplines. The ELN Finder team took care of the technical implementation and data entry. With the help of the ELN Finder API, the NFDI4Chem team was able to implement the connection to the knowledge base. The result can be found on the information pages of the individual domains.

The ELN Finder facilitates the search and selection of a suitable electronic lab notebook (ELN) for different requirements. With more than 40 available filter criteria, a clear categorisation of the options and a clearly arranged list of results, the tool offers structured orientation. Short descriptions of the individual ELN tools are also included to provide a quick overview.
