New website at www.zbmed.de

ZB MED has started 2015 in style with a brand new website, which went live on 15 January 2015. And it's not just the design that's different – the revamped ZB MED website also offers a range of new services including comprehensive advice on publishing articles and research data under green and gold open access models.

"The cutting-edge design of our new website reflects our new strategy and sets us in good stead for the future," says Ulrich Korwitz, Director of ZB MED.

In 2013 ZB MED carried out an extensive market study with the aim of defining its target groups and markets and developing new services for the future based on the results. By the end of this process, ZB MED had identified its primary target groups as scientists and researchers, key information disseminators, and students. It also succeeded in defining a three-pronged strategy for providing services focused on "Searching and finding", "Publishing and disseminating", and "Organising and pro-cessing". Research into information science is also set to play a bigger role at ZB MED in the future. "The design of our new website clearly reflects our new strategy and direction," says Korwitz.

ZB MED's revamped website highlights the academic and scientific importance of the institute, which boasts the world's biggest library in the subject areas of medi-cine, health, and nutritional, environmental and agricultural sciences. The site navigation echoes the increasingly significant role that research plays in ZB MED's business. The website has also been designed to be 'responsive', automatically adapting itself to match the size of the screen on which it is viewed.

The new site also includes a whole new section on open access publishing offering comprehensive information and advice. "Our new publishing advice service is aimed at users right across Germany and beyond. It provides comprehensive information on open access, the various options available for self-archiving, the best ways of covering article processing charges and publishing fees, and many other topics specific to the field of life sciences," Korwitz explains.
