Free access to OA Switchboard for German institutions also in 2025

TIB - Leibniz Information Centre for Science and Technology and ZB MED – Information Centre for Life Sciences will continue to finance the participation of German universities and research institutions in the initiative in 2025.

Since 2018, the OA Switchboard Foundation has been developing a global standardised format for the communication of publication data between publishers, funders and scientific institutions and their authors and libraries. Affiliated publishers provide delivery messages adapted to this metadata standard for recent publications, which are seamlessly imported into local systems via corresponding interfaces. The aim is to provide timely and precise publication information for all those involved in the scientific publication process. 

As of December 2024, 39 international publishers have already joined the Switchboard and over 200 OA Switchboard library participants worldwide use, develop and support this successful work in progress.
