Until 31 March 1987, Christian Jung was Deputy Director and Head of Use of ZB MED, at that time still the Central Library of Medicine. During this time, the biology graduate made a name for himself as an expert in researching medical and pharmaceutical literature. He published regularly and was involved in teaching at the then University of Applied Sciences for Libraries and Documentation in Cologne.

In 1987, Christian Jung moved to Bonn as Head Library Director at the Central Library of Agricultural Sciences - today the Bonn site of ZB MED. Under his leadership, the ZBL was included in the so-called Blue List in 1992, which brought with it federal and state funding. After ten years as Head Library Director, Christian Jung retired in 1997. The staff got to know him as a reliable and correct manager who valued direct contact. The idea of service and focussing on the needs of customers was very important to him.

Christian Jung remained associated with ZB MED even after his active service. Our condolences go out to her loved ones.
