From 1 December 2022, the German Research Foundation (DFG) will fund a project of ZB MED - Information Centre for Life Sciences over the next three years to combat disinformation in the life sciences. In the project AQUAS - Automatic Quality Assessment: NLP methods for semantic mapping of life science texts, an application based on artificial intelligence will be created, among other things. The aim is to gradually classify unknown texts into three classes based on semantic criteria: scientific, popular science or disinformative. The application will be integrated into the ZB MED search portal LIVIVO to make it available to the general public free of charge. Also provided is supplementary information on the good scientific practice of the publications, which may contain references to misinformation.
