Lockers
Taking bags and backpacks into the reading rooms is permitted.
Lockers are available on the lower ground floor. The lockers are designed to be used with your own padlock. A small number of padlocks are available to borrow at the issue desk. You will need to leave a deposit of 10 euros and return the padlock by the end of the day. It is not permitted to leave items in the lockers overnight. All the lockers will be opened for security reasons after the library has closed.

Wi-Fi
Wireless internet is provided free of charge in the public areas of the library. To connect to the Wi-Fi network of the University of Cologne ('UniKoeln-802.1X' or 'UniKoeln-WEB'), you will need to download and install a VPN-Client. To do this, users can apply for an account with the University of Cologne. For more details, including information on how to obtain a guest account (only in German), please visit http://rrzk.uni-koeln.de/accounts.html.
Computers and electronic resources
Our reading rooms provide plenty of space for individuals and groups to work in a calm and productive environment. They also offer computers with Internet access for scientific research purposes. To access the Internet you will lead a library card.
Within the network of the University of Cologne, you can access a wide range of databases and eJournals.
Once you have found the results you need, you can choose to either print them, send them by e-mail, or save them to a USB stick. No office software is installed on the computers.

A changing room for babies and toddlers is located in the disabled toilets on the ground floor (opposite the lending desk). The key is available from the lending desk.
