Knowledge extraction, preparation and management by the AG Universitätsverlage
AG Universitätsverlage is an association of university presses and publishing service providers from German-speaking countries. It is currently undergoing a strategic transformation to better address the growing demands of the academic publishing market, which is experiencing rapid technological progress and changing legal requirements. The aim is to formalise the previously ad hoc system of support and collaboration among its members by sharing knowledge through a structured system of regular publications. By disseminating best practices in this way, the goal is not only to support the members of the working group but also to reach and benefit a wider audience.
Focus on sustainability and efficiency
- Sustainability and reusability: The project will systematically process member experiences to ensure long-term usability for the scholar-led community.
- Efficiency and effectiveness: By improving the structure and delivery of services, the initiative seeks to elevate the quality of institutional publishing offerings.
Planned measures
- A new website: A user-friendly, functional and privacy-compliant website will be developed as a central platform for information dissemination.
- Living handbook: A “living handbook” will be created to provide continuously updated practical guidelines for institutional publishing services.
The project resources will serve as a knowledge base for small and medium-sized academic publishers, publishing services and library publishers as they transition to open access.
