Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, we take pleasure in welcoming you to the 11th International Symposium on GnRH on the topic “The Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Gonadal Axis in Cancer and Reproduction” which is being held in Salzburg, Austria, February 9-11, 2014.

We are delighted that the Organizing Committee has chosen to return to Salzburg as we all feel it is the home of this meeting, and have many memories of successful congresses in this city.

This symposium will be evaluating lessons learnt from the use of gonadotrophins, GnRH analogues and other peptides in the treatment of infertility. It will Furthermore evaluate the management of benign tumours and cancer, the ovary, fertilization and implantation as well as urological indications. The Symposium will discuss future trends and challenges ahead. In addition, we are bringing together basic scientists and clinicians. The basic scientists are giving state of the art lectures on the Neuroendocrine regulation of the gonadal axis, as well as hypothalamic peptides mechanism of action on its various targets in order to disseminate some of their expert knowledge to interested clinical researchers and practicing clinicians.

Clinicians and clinical researchers will highlight on their experience and stimulate the basic scientists to investigate new avenues. Chemists and Pharmacologists will present pharmacological preparations in Phase 1, 2 and 3 and will give you a glimpse into the future. Special symposia will be devoted to analyze the use of GnRH analogues as well as other agents in endometriosis and uterine fibroids and discuss present and future alternatives. The use of GnRH Analogues in prostate cancer and BPH will be discussed and preventative strategies for possible side effects will be assessed.

We hope that this meeting will be a memorable experience for all of you, where Salzburg, the gem of Central Europe, provides an exquisite background for an open exchange of ideas and presentations of new research. We hope that you will be able to further friendships and strengthen scientific collaboration and enjoy the sounds of Mozart.

With friendship,

Bruno Lunenfeld             Günter Emons
