Dear Colleagues,
dear Members of the German Cancer Society,

together with my co-chairs Lars Zender and Johannes Zuber I would like to invite you to join us for the 21^st International AEK Cancer Congress from February 16 to February 18 at the Advanced Training Center of the EMBL in Heidelberg.

The AEK Cancer Congress is a medium size conference with around 500 participants. It is funded by the German Cancer Society (this time with additional support of the German Research Foundation) and will be held in 2022 under the theme “Towards New Cancer Therapies: Mechanisms and Molecules”.

You will see that there is already a rapidly growing line-up of excellent speakers, who will cover multiple exciting topics of current biology, from basic mechanism to new immunotherapies and the development of new molecules. We will select a significant number of talks from the abstracts and provide students, postdocs and junior faculty the chance to present their latest research. In addition, the best posters will be presented as “Flash Talks”. So plan to present your best story at the AEK! We particularly encourage students and postdocs to attend the conference and offer special registration rates for them. In addition, there will be travel bursaries for young investigators.

As in previous years, the AEK Cancer Congress 2022 again will be a joint event of AEK and the DFG Research Unit 2314 "Targeting therapeutic windows in essential cellular processes for tumor therapy". Traditionally, the prestigious German Cancer Awards will be awarded for outstanding experimental, translational and clinical cancer research.
