Progressive changes are steadily implemented in our practice. We will be therefore glad to report on the evolutions that took place within the last 2 years which include numerous new devices in the treatment of aneurysms, balloon assisted transvenous retrograde injection of Onyx in dural fistulae but also an endovascular bypass technique in the handling of tonsillar loops of the carotid artery.
A special focus will be given AVMs. The ability to understand the venous segmentation has significantly increased by the development of the 6D imaging technique on the basis of the Siemens Icono angiographic system. The catheterization of cortical veins from the superior sagittal or transverse sinus has also been modified to allow a more reliable and faster access and the retrograde pressure cooker technique has been further improved.
Whether we’ll be able to demonstrate live on a further significant change in the treatment of acute stroke will depend on the time of arrival of the patients. At least we will report on our results with the increased first pass effect obtained with this change.
Any evolution only makes sense if controversial discussions take place. I have no doubt that we will share intense discussions with all international referents and participants.
