Kurzinfo

On behalf of the organizers of the first meeting of the Eastern European Eating Disorders Network I would like to invite you to participate in the June 29-July 1 conference in Kaunas, organized by the Federation Global Initiative on Psychiatry in collaboration with Vytautas Magnus University.

Last September, for the first time, an international conference on eating disorders took place in the former Soviet region. The 2017 Vilnius meeting of the European Council for Eating Disorders brought together specialists from all over Europe.

However, from Eastern Europe and the former USSR very few people attended, mainly because all proceedings were in English. For that reason, we decided to organize a special bi-lingual meeting in English and Russian, with a program specially developed for our part of the world where services are often still very under-developed or even absent and where the economic conditions are such that a lot needs to be done based on inventiveness and using sparse resources effectively. This is also how we started seventeen years ago in Vilnius, building step by step the Eating Disorder Center that we have today.

The Kaunas program is full of top-of-the-bill experts from Europe. They are there to share with you their knowledge, to discuss and debate new approaches, and to help you develop ideas how services could be developed in your own country. The conference is therefore practical and practice oriented, and will surely be unique way for you to increase your knowledge and become part of the European family of eating disorder specialists. To make your participation possible, we have kept the registration rates particularly low.

I gladly invite you to be part of this during the June 2018 meeting of the Eastern European Eating Disorders Network.

Brigita Baks

Chairwoman of the EEEDN 2018 Conference

Director of Vilnius Eating Disorder Center
