The Archiv für Ohrenheilkunde (“Archive of Otology”), which today is published under the name of the European Archives of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology, was founded in 1864 by Adam Politzer (Vienna), Anton von Tröltsch (Würzburg) and Hermann Schwartze (Halle/ Saale) as the world‘s first journal solely devoted to otology and neurotology.
We invite you to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the foundation of the Archiv für Ohrenheilkunde with a program consisting of oral and poster contributions in structured sessions on the history, the state of the art and the future directions of otology and neurotology.
Topics will include 1) history of the journal and of scientific publishing in otology and neurotology, 2) basic science, 3) diagnostic procedures in otology, audiology and neurotology, 4) conservative treatment including drug and cell based therapies of the inner ear, 5) surgery of the middle and inner ear, Eustachian tube and skull base, and 6) implantable hearing devices.
