The Leibniz Association is a non-academic organisation comprising 95 research institutes and scientific service facilities. It is funded by the German central government and federal states under Article 91b of the Basic Law for the Federal Republic of Germany. The institutes are of national importance and play a key role in the country’s science policy infrastructure.
As a former member of the Leibniz Association, ZB MED has close and enduring ties to the organisation. It continues to support Leibniz institutes in its role as a key part of the national information infrastructure for life sciences. ZB MED is a strong advocate for open access publications and research data and plays an active role in Leibniz Association working groups including “AK Open Access” and “AK Research Data”. ZB MED is also a member of the Leibniz Research Alliance Open Science and the Leibniz Research Alliance Healthy Ageing.
