Dr Christiane Fricke from the Ministry of Science and Culture of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia visits ZB MED
The visit on 30 July 2024 began with a tour of the building at the Cologne site. Dr Christiane Fricke got to know the various areas of ZB MED: the library and its mostly digital services, the comprehensive training programme on data and information literacy, services and advice on academic publishing, current research projects on fake news and networking initiatives in the National Research Data Infrastructure. The relevant employees engaged in dialogue with the group leader from the MKW and reported on their practical experience.
In a final round with the ZB MED management committee, Prof. Dr Dietrich Rebholz-Schuhmann, Scientific Director of ZB MED, highlighted the unique national significance of the information centre for the German research landscape. He also presented strategic principles and gave an outlook on future plans.
Dr Christiane Fricke heads Group 31 at the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, which is responsible for non-university research organisations. She was accompanied on her visit by Dr Michael H. Wappelhorst, Head of Division responsible for foundations and also Chairman of the ZB MED Foundation Board.
