A research software marketplace for the German National Research Data Infrastructure
The nfdi.software project is developing a central marketplace for research software to make it easier to access and re-use NFDI research data. The goal is to promote the long-term use and further development of research software in disciplines such as cultural studies, humanities, social sciences, engineering, and natural and life sciences.
The marketplace integrates and coordinates independent software solutions developed by various NFDI consortia within a federated data infrastructure. By interlinking and contextualising software and data, the marketplace opens up new opportunities for analysis and application. Research software metadata is harmonised, enriched and augmented with AI-driven solutions to ensure the software’s continued relevance and usability.
nfdi.software aims to lay the groundwork for unified standards and enhanced collaboration within the NFDI. In the initial phase of the project, the goal is to develop an approach that will draw on insights from previous initiatives to create a “prototype for integration”.
nfdi.software is a service within the Base4NFDI network.
ZB MED’s role in the project
ZB MED will contribute to identifying and defining an approach for metadata exchange with other Base4NFDI services and provide recommendations for curating and improving the quality of software added to nfdi.software.
