New remote access: International Journal of Tuberculosis and Lung Disease
It won Robert Koch the Nobel Prize for Medicine in 1905 and, more than any other disease, found its way into the art of the 19th and 20th centuries: Tuberculosis. Bacteria trigger the disease, which is why it is easily treatable since the invention of antibiotics. In industrialised countries, tuberculosis is thought to have been eradicated, but its epidemiological scale in developing countries means that it is still a major health care problem - with around 1.5 million deaths a year, it is one of the deadliest infectious diseases worldwide.
The Union, the international union against tuberculosis and lung disease, deals with all aspects of lung health and publishes the International Journal of Tuberculosis and Lung Disease. The motto of The Union is "Know. Share. Act." The fact that the journal is now available remotely to our registered users nationwide contributes to this.
All the journals that are available remotely can be found in the Electronic Journals Library (EZB). You can recognise the link for remote access by the notice: "In the reading rooms of ZB MED and via remote access for registered ZB MED users". Anyone who already has a valid ZB MED user card can log in to remote access using the data on their card. People who do not yet have a ZB MED user card and whose place of residence is in Germany can apply for a so-called virtual user card, which will be issued promptly and at no cost. This user card allows access to the entire range of services offered by the ZB MED remote access.
